Even
though Leicester is getting more and more soaked by the minute,
City's last reserve game of the season went ahead tonight
with Wimbledon the visitors.
City
took the lead through Trevor Benjamin's 12th minute strike
when he reacted the quickest in a goal mouth scramble that
was caused by the pouring rain making the pitch laughably
slippery.
A
special mention too must go to midfielder Matthew Jones who
ran his heart out in the first half before he was substituted
in the interval, surly an indication of his inclusion on Saturday
against Former club Leeds.
City
did not have it all their own way in the first half though
and the Don's Lionel Morgan equalised after 42 minutes with
a well timed shot that had no problems beating City's desperately
stretching 'keeper Michael Price.
City
new boy Ashley Lyth found himself getting an early bath early
in the second half after receiving a second yellow card and
being immediately sent off. Rumours that he was cold and desperate
to leave the field, have as yet, proved to be untrue.
After
that Wimbledon found it easy to take the lead when they used
their numerical advantage in the 72nd minute to let Joel McAnuff
fire off a shot that hit the back of the net with ease.
All
was not lost though as City fought back and just four minutes
later, FFS's tip for the top, Lawrie Dudfield fired home from
a tight angle and left the score all square which is where
it stayed for the rest of the evening.
