After
FFS heard the news about Stuart Campbells imminent departure
for the fishy docks of Grimsby we decided to go trudging off
round the net to see if we could sniff anything else out.
We
found that the official Grimsby site has Mariners boss Lennie
Lawrence saying that he hopes to sign Campbell in the next
week after he has "more or less" agreed a fee with
City.
Campbell
has spent alot of time at Grimsby this season when Peter Taylor
sent him off on loan. It now seems though that he has been
fishing for a move for some time and Laurance said, "I
have more or less fixed a fee with Leicester. I've got the
agent to deal with, and I've got the method of payment to
deal with, which is not easy. But we've moved along a little
bit there, and hopefully we'll bring that to a conclusion.
"He's gone away for a week. In a perfect world I'd have
him in next
Monday to put pen to paper."
Campbell
has apparently been getting on great over at Grimsby with
fans and players alike assuring him that after recent performances
when he was the life and sole of the party he would definitely
have a place at Grimsby as long as the manager could be cod-jouled
into it.
The official Grimsby site also assures us that Campbell has
picked up three awards at their recent Player Of The Year
night and fans were also chanting for him to be signed by
boss Laurance at the last game of the season against Fulham.
It
seems to FFS that Stuart could be getting his perfect move
after just casting out his net and moving slightly up river.
We
wish him the best of luck.
