City
boss Peter Taylor believes that City's 5 day break in Marbella
has done them the power of good and he insists that City will
be fresher than ever when they face Leeds at Elland Road a
week today.
City
are hoping that the win against Spurs last Saturday will help
to give them a boost against Leeds in a game that both teams
may not be able to afford to lose.
City
are hoping that a win will give them another top 10 finish,
the 5th in a row, with Leeds needing to win to have any chance
of qualifying for the Champions League again next season.
Peter
Taylor though is just glad to have had some breathing space
after the run of defeats that saw City plunge out of the top
half of the table and even though City were in no danger of
being relegated Taylor says he still felt the heat.
Taylor
told the Mercury, I was about the only one who didnt
doubt myself. But I think the experience has made me harder,
more determined.
I
understand what people had to write and say about it but I
never lost confidence in my ability. I have been very pleased
with the players, too, in their reaction. I have got every
faith in them and I was so pleased for them that they finally
got the result against Spurs.
The
break went very well, just at the right time and I am pleased
there is only one game left because I think we all need a
summer rest now and I am really looking forward to getting
back with the lads in July.
I
am hoping to bring in a few players and the Spurs result was
very important. It took us three places up the table and each
place is worth around £300,000 so that will make a difference
to my spending plans if we stay there at the end.
But
we have the Leeds game first, a tough one and, as I said about
the position in the table, an important one for us. Once that
is over then we can finally recharge the batteries.
