City
boss Peter Taylor found it hard to contain his delight after
he notched up his first win in 10 games by saying, "It's
been a long time since we won, but I am very pleased, not
just with this victory, but also that we created so many chances.
"Not
only that, but when Tottenham pulled us back on two occasions,
we kept going and ended up clear winners. The bad run has
definitely made me harder, and I have got more determined.
I must say, I have had no problems in the dressing room, and
the players had been very good. Throughout our bad run their
heads have never gone down.
"I
have had an appalling run with injuries, with key players
out. If they had been able to come straight back after the
Wycombe defeat, then I think this awful run might never have
happened in the first place."
Spurs
boss Hoddle on the other hand had less to rave about pointing
the finger of blame squarely at his defence for today's defeat
as well as the number of injuries that Spurs are suffering
with. He said, "It was an awkward game for us with so
many key players out. We didn't start very well, but I was
happier with our second half performance. I didn't think we
deserved to lose 4-2, but it was an important learning curve
for our youngsters. We scored two great goals and might have
gone on to win but for poor defending."
Hoddle
also went on to blast the referee for City's last minute penalty
by saying, "It was never a penalty from where I was sat.
When the referee went over, I thought he was going to book
the player for diving.
"At
the very worst, our player might have been guilty of obstruction,
but Stephen Carr was adamant it was never a foul by Alton
Thelwell"
City's
captain, Robbie Savage was also delighted by the result telling
the clubs official site, "That's the end of a very difficult
period for the club and my only disappointment is that we
cannot replay the Wycombe game now - the result would be completely
different.
"But
that is in the past and we need to look to the future after
beating a team of the calibre of Spurs 4-2 and playing them
off the park.
"We
created loads of chances, didn't score them all, but to create
so many was really pleasing.
"The
lads are buzzing again and we can go to Leeds and enjoy the
game on the last day of the season.
"To
be named captain of Leicester City today was one of the best
moments of my career. When you join any football club you
hope that one day you will be its captain.
"My
early start here was rough to say the least but now the fans
have responded to the way I play and the ovation I got at
the end was terrific.
"I'm
not big headed but I think the fans love me!
"I
sent David Seaman the wrong way with a penalty last season
and now I've sent Neil Sullivan the wrong way, so I can't
be that bad at taking penalty kicks.
"The
fans have stuck by us, they could have stayed away meaning
low gates in recent weeks, and I'm just pleased for them that
we rewarded them with a win today."
