City
were robbed of a point today at the death in a game that could
only be described as "Laughably poor" at St. James
Park.
With
City still trying to get a win before the end of the season
in a bid to end the worst run of defeats in City's history
a point today at Newcastle would have been just the tonic
to relive some of the pressure that is now mounting on Peter
Taylor.
Unfortunately
it was not to be after a deflected shot from Newcastle's Carl
Cort in stoppage time gave the Geordies all three points.
It
was a cruel blow for City who must have thought that a point
was theirs even though the fourth official added on an amazing
four minutes of time despite the second half being relatively
incident free.
City
must again look at the strikeforce in order to find the reasons
for this defeat with Ade Akinbiyi spurning every chance that
came his way leading even his strongest supporters calling
him "A donkey".
Add
that along with Cort's injury time shot that hit Rowett and
went in past an outstretched Tim Flowers and you have a recipe
for another afternoon of distress for City fans.
The
only small piece of comfort for City fans is the return to
form of Tim Flowers who, after being out of the squad for
sometime with injury, beat Simon Royce to play today and pulled
off a string of fine saves that kept the scoreline small.
With
City now official in the middle of the worst run of results
ever fans are no longer interested in excuses and even though
Izzet, Elliott, Taggart and Savage were all absent through
injury City must do better or Mr Taylor could find that the
only job that he has left is his England one.
Maybe
he knows that because at the end he made the players come
over and bow to the City fans. But a bit of humility is not
enough at the moment and what City fans want is goals, points
and more goals. If not then the top priority will be a head
and if I was Peter Taylor I'd keep a good eye on mine.
