Former
City captain and firm fans favorite Steve Walsh has spoke
out against Peter Taylor accusing him of "destroying"
the team he inherited from former manager Martin O'Neill.
Not only that but Walshy also hinted that there was "unrest"
amongst the City players (15/04/01).
He
insists that the poor run of results, including losses to
Second Division Wycombe in the FA Cup and seven Premiership
loses in a row have took their toll on the team with confidence
at an all time low and many stars reconsidering their future
at the club.
Walshy,
currently at non-league Tamworth said, "In eight months,
he has systematically destroyed O'Neill's team. Look who were
the first to leave - Tony Cottee, myself and Stan Collymore.
"Even
though we've lost Emile Heskey to Liverpool and Neil Lennon
to Celtic, we got big money back. But we've spent a lot on
players who are yet to convince the fans of their Premiership
quality.
"There's
definite unrest in the dressing room," said Walsh. "I
think it's going to be an eventful summer with some players
who can now see the problems. It's possible others could leave."
Walsh
was passed over for the managers job when O'Neill left and
Taylor was chosen instead which does leave FFS asking the
question, Is it sour grapes? Only the players themselves know
that.
