According
to the official site City have won the East Midlands football
club of the year title at the Century 106 radio sports awards
held at Pride Park on Sunday.
You
may think this is a joke, what with the current state of the
team and all but looking at the other contenders it's easy
to see why City won.
They
fought off opposition from Nottingham Forest (failed in their
bid for a play off spot), Chesterfield (Ken Dodd's accountant
and transfer tips from George Graham) and Derby County (Lucky
to still be in the Premiership) to lift the trophy and sent
chairman John Elsom to collect the award.
Robbie
Savage managed to stick a big two fingers up to his critics
in the press as well last night as he walked off with Leicestershire
footballer of the Year title.
Savage
told reporters, "I'm very honored to win the award. It's
something I'll always be very proud of."
