City's reserves lost tonight against Ipswich Towns second
string in front of 2323 people when Richard Logan hit home
in the second half to take all three points back down the
A14.
A
City side that included old timers Price, Dudfield and Stewart,
first teamers Oakes, Benjamin, Gunnlaugsson and Guppy, aswell
as (not so) new boy Delaney had much of the better play
during the first half with Gunnlaugsson a constant threat
to the Ipswich defence although his shots constantly went
either wide or straight at the 'keeper, which seems to justify
Taylor's decision not to start him in the first team at
the moment.
The
game also marked a return, if not triumphant, for Lawrie
Dudfield who has just come back from being on loan spell
at Chesterfield. The chance to play regular first team football,
all be it in the lower divisions, seems to have a very good
effect on Dudfield with him charging at the Ipswich defence
right from the start of the game. Forfoxsake still predicts
great things from Dudfield who has fast become FFS's one
to watch and he certainly deserves to get his chance in
the first team next season if not before.
Alas
though for all of City's efforts and with a team that a
couple of years ago would have been taking on Chelsea at
around Christmas time, City's reserves continued a trend
that they have learnt from the first teamers. Succumbing
to soft goals when they should have already put the game
out of the reach of their opponents.
A
moment of madness let Ipswich's Abidallah get a ball through
for Logan who simply slid the ball past a bewildered Price.
