Richard Cresswell who is currently on loan at Preston North
End after it was decided that his chance of first team football
at City was slim, has launched a scathing attack on city
manager Peter Taylor.
Cresswell is among a number of City players who have fell
foul of Taylor's axe with the list including, Tony Cottee,
Steve Walsh and more recently Phil Gilchrist, who have all
been shown the door under the new Taylor regime.
Cresswell moved to City from Sheffield Wednesday at the
beginning of the season in a deal worth £850,000 but
soon found himself right at the back of the striking queue
behind the likes of Ade Akinbiyi and even new boy Dean Stuurridge.
The
facts are startling with Cresswell only playing 561 minutes
of football for city this season in 13 matches of which
he only started in 5. His contribution to the goal tally?
1, against York in that FA Cup 3rd round game in January.
This was why the decision to put him out on loan at Preston
was taken at the beginning of March.
Cresswell
though insists that he was not given a fair crack of the
whip by Taylor and said, "When Peter Taylor bought
me he rated me - he picked me for England Under-21s, but
after eight months, I haven't been given a chance to show
what I can do.
"At least at Preston I will be playing for a manager
who has real faith in me."
Taylor
is currently on duty with the England coaching team and
has yet to comment.
