Defender
Phil Gilchrist today left City to join WBA for £500k.
This leaves City with a major shortage of defenders.
Phil
Gilchrist was signed from Oxford in the summer of 2000,
where he'd previously played alongside Matty Elliott. He
cost Leicester the same price as they have sold him for,
£500k.
He
found it difficult to hold down a first team spot despite
some excellent showings thanks to inspired form from Taggart
and Elliott etc. He made 51 appearances, but many from the
bench.
Leicester
originally turned down an offer for Gilchrist in January
from the Baggies.
Gilchrist
leaves at a time when Sinclair, Taggart and Davidson are
all injured and untried players may have to play out of
position to cover the lack of defence.
