Although Muzzy Izzet has said that he will be back for the
Charlton game in April, it seems like teammate Gerry Taggart
is not fairing so well.
Taggart's
torn his hamstring and will definitely not play anypart
in Northern Ireland's World Cup qualifiers against the Czech
Republic and Bulgaria.
Taggart
was due to play but had no option but to pull out when a
scan revealed the damage and specialists told him that he
must rest for at least ten days.
Taggart
said, "There was no point in flying over and leaving
it until the last minute and that would only have made things
worse for everyone.
"A
couple of years ago I would have said 'let's play on' and
maybe risked making the injury worse.
"But
I think this time my body is trying to tell me something
and I should listen.
"I've
had problems on my left side for some time with my ankle
and back as well as the hamstring, so I think this is my
body's way of saying that I need a rest."
Hopefully
though with the break in domestic football lasting until
the beginning of April Taggart should be fit to face Charlton.
Some
more good news though comes from the Flowers camp who have
confirmed that the 33 year old former international 'keeper
(phew) is now fit and should play for the reserves tonight.
Taylor
said, Tim is getting better and better. He has started
kicking the ball again, which was the big worry for us.
We
are hopeful that he can come through the Coventry game and
that will leave me with a major decision to make.
Simon
Royce has done ever so well for us and it will be great
to have two fully-fit keepers fighting for the jersey.
It
should though prove to be no problem for Taylor choosing
between his two 'keepers as he has said all along that a
fully fit Flowers will make his team everytime. How Royce
feels about this though we do not know!
