City's proposed new stadium makes it's first appearance
today. On a virtual reality machine.
City
firm Maelstrom have took the ailing technology to new heights
to allow City fans to "walk around" the new stadium
and see just what they will be getting for their £35
Million.
Every
major angle will be covered by the tour including views
from the centre circle, one of the stadium's seats and above
the new ground. Maelstrom have even included a view of the
players' lounge, bar and restaurant, foyer and executive
boxes. Presumable so that Gerry Taggart can have a look
at just where he will be spending most of his nights in
the future.
Although
the tour is designed to be used in conjunction with a virtual
reality helmet and will primarily feature on City's planned
roadshows, the clubs official website will be giving fans
around the world the chance to view the stadium when they
put it online at around 10am tomorrow.
It's
not the first time that this kind of thing has been made
available via a footy website. Derby's site included one
3 years ago until it was eventually removed due to high
bandwidth demands. Hopefully that won't happen to City's
new effort due to the clubs involvement with NTL.
City's
chief operating officer Steve Kind said: "Virtual reality
gives our supporters the opportunity to experience the look
and feel of the new stadium. New computer technology means
you really do feel as if you are inside the ground."
He
also revealed plans to allow people to use the system as
a means of choosing their ideal ticket when the new stadium
is finished.
"It
will be a vital marketing tool. When the time comes for
the sale of tickets we will be able to use virtual reality
so that season ticket holders can see the view from their
seats."
