"particularly when the club that wanted to sign him is a similar sized club to Leicester, in the same division.
It seems a strange move to make for a player with ambition, and has made many people wonder whether his motivation was for financial rather than football reasons"

I came across this statement in your post and was rather confused by it. With no disrespect to Leicester Football Club, West Bromwich Albion, with their three promotions to the Premier League in the past few seasons and reaching the Semi Final of the FA Cup last year, proves that they are one of the strongest teams in the division. Mattock has ambition and with West Bromwich Albion being a club that is constantly moving forward he may be able to go on to play Premiership football next season with West Brom being one of the favourites to go up - again with no disrespect to Leicester I don't think that will be the case with them. I don't think you can compare Leicester and West Bromwich Albion and come to the conclusion that they are the same sized club.
